"Color has always been the prime focus of my work. It had been very important in my painting, and when I realized I could achieve even richer color, and texture as well, in weaving, I knew I had found my medium."

Carol Furtado received her BFA in painting and ceramics from the University of Michigan.During her four decades as a fiber artist, Carol has acquired a strong reputation as a creator of distinctive wearable art. A dramatic palette of colors uniquely characterizes her work.

Currently she is creating handwoven hats, berets, and scarves; beaded and embroidered pins; and knitted and wrapped necklaces. Her newest work includes dyed and discharged jackets and unique nuno felted scarves, shawls and hats.
